Featuring Oboist Fiona McMillan, Flautist Anita Cavanough, vocalist Kerry Warner, Bassoonist Jane Hawkins, and on Spinet Leanne Swanson.
Combine a superb setting, superb music and superb musicians and you have a rather enjoyable experience. A great misconception of baroque music is that it is a little less exciting than the classical or romantic repertoire. This is simply not true as this music was created as sole entertainment for the 17th & 18th centuries. You will find the music is light, dance like in quality and downright raunchy at times! Join Leanne with her 16th Century spinet and guests as they romp through the evening with songs and pieces from the Baroque period.
Bookings phone Rowena 38224953.
Tickets $15; RAC members $10. Limited seating.
SATURDAY & SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 5 & 6 – Redlands Spring Festival includes RAC Ba-Lonn Jazz Tent, Raw Dance, performances and workshops.
FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 13 – Classics Close Up “4 Hands on a Grand”!
Performance Space, Cleveland District State High School at 2pm.
Featuring well known Brisbane Pianist June Butcher, Leanne Swanson and Linda Muller.
Two bottoms at one piano is bad enough, but when you try to squeeze three onto one piano stool then the problems begin! That will be the tone of the evening for this Classics concert. Leanne and well known Brisbane pianist and examiner, June Butcher join forces for an evening of piano duets. Popular and classics flow from 20 fingers on the grand but that's not all. Throw in an extra 10 fingers onto that grand and there's bound to be trouble. Linda Muller will join them for Beethoven 5th symphony presented on one piano!! Yes its true, and twill be a sight to see and hear. You will also hear Liszts 2nd Rhapsody, Grieg's Peer Gynt, Faure's Dolly Suite and more.

NOVEMBER 13 – Classics Close Up “Early Music Consort” at Redlands Museum, Smith Street Cleveland at 7pm.
The fabulours voices of Soprano, Gabriel Bieniek and Counter Tenor, David Muller will feature at this very special event. Early music usually denotes the period before the Baroque era. David and Gabriel will perform solos as well as duets from the famous operas of the time; folk tunes that inspired those later operatic composers and the art songs of the time. Leanne Swanson and friends will insert a few well chosen instrumental pieces into this eclectic assortment. This beautiful music is served in a lovely setting so do don those masks ladies and gentlement and join Leanne and her consort at an early opera setting.
DECEMBER 6 – Classics Close Up “A Chamber Music Spectacular”
Performance Space, Cleveland District State High School at 7pm
Featuring Schubert’s “Trout Quintet” and Glinka’s Sextet in E flat. A grandiose chamber music of the Romantic era. The composers of this period revolted and began to "let it all hang out" so to speak! They poured their hearts out through their compositions. Gone was that elegant but stiff upper lip of Classicism and here to stay was the heart-wrenching tear jerking music of the 19th Century. Join Leanne Swanson and friends as they take you on an emotional roller-coaster journey with "The Romantics".
