PHILIP EAMES - PIANIST
The recipient of the Youth Development Fund scholarship for 2011 presented at Redlands on Stage by Mayor Melva is Pianist, Philip Eames. Philip was accepted on scholarship to undertake a two-year intensive Master of Music degree at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.
In his letter of thanks to RAC Philip writes:
‘It comes at a time where such support allows me to pursue musical opportunities not only in Manchester, but also throughout the UK and Europe.
My time so far in Manchester at the RNCM has been fruitful, and I have undertaken such activities as intensive chamber music collaborating with a variety of musicians: (Two piano trios, a piano duo, a piano and percussion quartet, and piano and soprano), becoming repetiteur for a new chamber opera The Mermaid of Zannor, and have been given the opportunity to perform in the College’s well-promoted ‘Spotlight’ Series in early 2012, where I will present a concert of Australian Piano and Chamber music. I will also be auditioning for concerto opportunities, and also for a performance of contemporary classical music in the Purcell Room of the Southbank Centre in London as part of the Young Artists Concerts series.
The generous support I have received from the Redlands has been of great assistance, and I am fortunate to belong to a community that nurtures artistic development.
I would be most delighted to perform in the Redlands upon my return! I will be sure to keep you up to date on my achievements and other news’.
